REFLECTIONS

Experience
This was my first time working on a client project under an NDA, and the experience throughout the semester was truly bizarre. The project required a collaboration between the School of Engineering and the Design School, bringing together two distinct groups. From the design side, each team had to consist of members from different specialisations. Our group included two Graphic Design students, three UI/UX designers, one Entertainment Design student, and one Digital Animation student.

We were given the choice to collaborate with one of four Engineering groups. We decided to work with the team whose model was more complete, as we felt it would be easier to understand and obtain the necessary information. While some of the other group's ideas were interesting, we believed this group had a more practical foundation. Still, our challenge was to make their highly technical content more user-friendly.

The engineers' presentation was quite overwhelming due to the amount of technical detail, and it was hard to absorb all the information at once. However, as a designer, I saw this as an opportunity to find creative ways to communicate complex information to the public in a more accessible manner.

It was a tough journey, full of ups and downs, especially because we didn’t fully understand the engineers’ evolving model throughout most of the semester. Their constant updates meant we had to keep adjusting our design solutions. We only gained a full understanding of the project towards the end, but despite the chaos, we managed to develop a strong final solution.

Our team focused on promoting the engineering project through a campaign that included relevant visual collaterals and creating an immersive booth experience combining aesthetics with informative content. The execution included both online and offline mockups to give a comprehensive overview. My role involved leading the promotional campaign and producing the associated materials. This part was somewhat familiar to me, as I was also taking a Creative Brand Strategy module at the time. Although I didn’t fully grasp the concept at first, we managed to pull it off, thanks to the support of my teammates.
