  3. Label Sizes:
    • Large bottle: 9.5 cm (H) × 18.5 cm (W)
    • Small bottle: 6 cm (H) × 14.5 cm (W)

Submissions:
  1. Your final outcome must include a digital mock-up of the redesigned label for presentation.

Progress:

Design Exploration and Execution

Design Objective:
For this project, we were tasked to redesign a label for Uncle Jeff Kombucha that looks professional, eye-catching, and distinctly local and artisanal, while effectively presenting product information and reflecting a Malaysian-inspired style.

Moodboard:
I chose Pandan Lemongrass as the flavour, highlighting familiar local ingredients with fragrant, refreshing qualities. For the visual direction, I drew inspiration from a retro-modern look with a playful, artisanal vibe, aiming to evoke nostalgia and a handcrafted feel.

Digitisation:
After completing the moodboard, I gathered all key information for three panels, including information panel, main visual, and utility panel. Having everything ready helped me focus on the layout, visuals, and making the label clear, functional, and on-brand.

During digitisation, I refined the typography and spacing to ensure the label appeared clean, professional, and aligned with the intended retro-modern, artisanal style.

REFLECTIONS

Experience
This project strengthened my understanding of label design, particularly in balancing aesthetics with clear product information. I also gained hands-on experience in developing a concept from moodboard to a shelf-ready digital mock-up.

Observation
I observed that clear hierarchy, spacing, and typography play a crucial role in improving readability on small packaging formats. Consistency across panels helped create a more professional and cohesive label design.

Findings
I found that simplifying visuals and focusing on typography can effectively communicate an artisanal and local brand identity.
