Figure P2.3: Final Submission of Conceptual Product Photoshoot - The Orange Globe, Week 11 (05/11/2023)
Title: The Orange Globe
Description: The spherical form of the orange can visually parallel the shape of the globe. In my point of view, orange can be seen as "Wholeness or Completeness", because of its round shape, an orange can be a symbol of wholeness or unity, just as a globe does for the world as a whole. Besides that, it also can be seen as cycles. Since oranges are a fruit that ripens and grows in cycles, they could mean growth, time passing, or renewal. It has warm, calming tones, which also reminded me of peaceful.
REFLECTIONS
Experience
I enjoyed doing this assignment because I got the chance to experience the tools in Photoshop like the gradient map. Although I couldn't memorise well the shortcut keys in Photoshop, it was a good experience to learn about double exposure. Project 2B was pretty fun to do because of the topic: "Surrealism". It is because I got the chance to create an artwork that is filled with strange and bizarre images. Basically, it defies logic but it looks "real" although it's not.
Observations
For Project 2A, I realised that I'm kinda familiar with some tools in Photoshop such as "select and mask", "clipping mask", "vector mask", and more. Before that, I was really confused about these things because I wasn't familiar with Photoshop. For Project 2B, I realised that the orange didn't really blend well with the globe stand because of the lighting techniques I used.
Findings
It will be a long journey to learn and memorise all tools and shortcut keys in Photoshop, so this shows the importance of making notes and process work in Eportfolio. For Project 2B, I need to understand the basic lighting: Front Light, Back Light, and Side Light. Different lighting techniques will make the image look different. I can practice these basic lighting techniques in my daily life with my smartphone to capture objects/ scenery.
