Independent Learning Week
This week was an independent learning week, so I just continued to do the exercise - Double Exposure (My Version) by watching YouTube tutorials provided by Mr Fauzi on Google Slides.
EXERCISE - DOUBLE EXPOSURE
Week 8 (14/11/2023)
Photo Manipulation (My Version)
Instructions:
Part 2: My Version
- Take your own portrait photo (portrait mode).
- Collect background images online (high resolution).
- Import all images to Photoshop and convert to black & white/ monochrome (Can be a mixture of colour with B & W).
- Make your own double-exposure photo!
- Image can be landscape (1920x1080) or portrait (1080x1920).
- Submit on week 9.

1. Inserted images (self-portrait and background images) > click Image > click Adjustments > click Black & White (Alt + Shift + Ctrl B)

2. Click W for Object Selection/ Quick Selection/ Magic Wand tools > click "Select Subject" > click "Select and Mask" > select "Refine Edge Brush Tool" > brush the hair and glasses > check edges > Output: select "New Layer with Layer Mask" > click OK

3. Create a new layer > add "Solid Colour" to white > rename it to "background" > drag it under "self portrait" layer

4. Increase contrast for the self-portrait layer: add Curve adjustment layer > make S curve > right click on curve layer and select Clipping Mask

5. Add forest image > flip vertical > click Channel > choose "red" for the contrast" > drag the "red" layer to duplicate it (get "red copy") > press Ctrl L to adjust the input levels > click OK >

6. Press Ctrl + Click on the "red copy" layer > go to Layers and add layer mask on the "forest" layer > press Ctrl I to invert mask > reposition the forest image (Ctrl T)

7. Click "Curves" > create a clipping mask on the "forest" layer > adjust to S curve

8. Turn off the "forest" layer > click "self-portrait" layer mask > click Brush tool (B) > foreground colour to black > adjust brush size, hardness, and flow (opacity to 100%, hardness to 0%, flow to 72%) > mask out the harsh edges so the trees will be able to softly blend off of the portrait

9. Turn back on the "forest" layer > click Ctrl + Click on the "self-portrait" layer mask > click Ctrl + Shift + I to invert that selection > then click back to the "forest" layer mask > mask out all the forest > click Ctrl D (deselect)

10. Add cave image > reposition the cave image to the person's head > click Ctrl + Click on the "self-portrait" layer mask > add vector mask on the "cave" layer >

11. Click the "chain" icon between the "cave image" and "vector mask" > click Ctrl T to reposition the cave image again

12. Add bird image > select the blending mode (darken/ multiply) to remove the white background > reposition it > reduce the opacity > add cloud images and reposition them

13. Add Gradient Map to fill layer > select a gradient map > reduce the opacity
