Collage Design Elements

Instructions:
  1. Choose and identify your collage's design elements to be cut out and compose it into your own concept & story.
  2. Pre-compositing your collage's design elements into a composition.

Process:
Mr Fazui recommended we use the materials surrounding us, any unused magazines, newspapers, plastic bags and more. I decided to use a magazine from Uniqlo and an A4 black cardboard for this task.

These are the materials I use for task 2.

Inspirations from Pinterest.

These are my rough ideas. Then, I decided to choose ideas 1, 4 and 5 for the pre-compositions.

Pre-Composition #1
Figure E2.4: Pre-composition 1, Week 2 (03/10/2023)

Description: The story of this pre-composition is the journey of life. In my point of view, the journey means a life of lessons with memories, it can be enjoying the present now like playing sports and style of clothing. Then, I used the person as the focal point to pop up as the main character, he represents us, a human living on Earth to explore things surrounding us.

Pre-Composition #2
Figure E2.5: Pre-composition 2, Week 2 (03/10/2023)

Description: The concept of this pre-composition is action speaks louder than words. As you can see, the person is holding a jar with a pouring gesture, and then I decided to cut out the article as the water. I tried to make it balance with the visual weight, such as the article as the water.

Pre-Composition #3
Figure E2.6: Pre-composition 3, Week 2 (03/10/2023)

Description: The story of this pre-composition is connecting. Human connection helps people to exchange positive energy with one another and build up trust too, this makes us feel heard and understood by someone. I cropped them with the neck sweater from the magazine because they helped me demonstrate the concept to viewers. Besides that, I also cut a diamond shape of the article as the background and a crystal light to make the composition look more cozy.

The final composition is pre-composition #2, which is chosen by Mr Fauzi
