EXERCISE - DIGITAL COLLAGE

Week 4 (17/10/2023)

Working with Layers

Instructions:
  1. Attach your best composition from the Week 3 digital collage exercise below.
  2. Using the same Photoshop file, improvise your Week 3 digital collage into Week 4 by using Adjustment Layers & Filters on Photoshop.
  3. Explain what you’ve learned in the description section.

PEN TOOL EXERCISE (BEST COMPOSITION IN WEEK 3)
Mr Fauzi chose Composition #1 for my best composition in Week 3 Composition Digital Collages.
Figure E4.1: Composition Chosen by Mr Fauzi from Week 3 Digital Collage, Week 4 (19/10/2023)

Description: Personally, I choose this as my best composition because this composition doesn’t look more complicated than the others, what I mean is this composition gives a more ‘clear’ look to the viewers. I’ve learned how to use the pen tool, remove the background to extract the object, shape out the image with a rectangular marquee tool, and more. The concept of this composition is ‘glitch’, which is inspired by ‘WandaVision’ (TV Mini Series 2021). I changed the texture (circle, below left) into hue, the rubber plant into luminosity, and texture (circle, top left) into darker colour while exploring the tools.

ADJUSTMENT LAYERS & FILTERS
Figure E4.2: Before Changes with Selective Colour, Week 4 (19/10/2023)

Figure E4.3: After Changes with Selective Colour, Week 4 (19/10/2023)

Description: I explored the selective colour on the typewriter because I want to change the colour to cyan, so it can match the orange colour behind the there (circle top left). Besides that, I also screenshot the changes I make for the selective colour. After changing the selective colour, I merge the layer (selective colour layer) down to the typewriter.
